BOSS Matty Holmes said Franklyn Clarke would be a “great addition” to the Wimborne Town set-up.

The all-action midfielder last week made the switch from Poole Town having had his contract cancelled at Black Gold Stadium.

After being snapped up by the Cuthbury outfit, Clarke marked his return to the club with a goal in Saturday’s 5-0 hammering of Kings Langley.

He is expected to be involved when Holmes’s men tomorrow host Frome Town in Southern League South (7.45pm).

The Wimborne manager told the Daily Echo: “It’s great to get him in and he is a great addition. We couldn’t turn it down.

“He watched us at Weymouth, which I didn’t realise at the time. He was impressed by the way we played and felt he could make a contribution to us with the style we play.

“He has quality on the ball, energy and goals like he provided on Saturday. It was a really good debut for him and we are pleased we have him.

“He seems to really like Wimborne and the opportunity to come back to us – because he was not playing at Poole – was too great.

“I know he had other offers so I’m delighted he chose us, especially in our lowly position. I’m really looking forward to seeing him progress with us.”
