A TEENAGER was caught behind the wheel of a car which was in a dangerous condition, with an airbag held into the steering wheel by tape, a court has heard.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested in Poole on February 1. He was driving a Vauxhall which had a boot which wouldn't close, two cracked wing mirrors and 'numerous items' littering the inside of the car. The airbag was also taped inside the steering wheel.

The boy, who lives in Ringwood, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court to admit using a motor vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury.

He denied a second charge of having a locking knife, and prosecutors offered no evidence in relation to the accusation.

The defendant was fined £30 and ordered to pay a £20 surcharge and £30 costs. He was also given three points on his licence.
