A PRIMARY school in Christchurch has maintained its high standards according to a recent Ofsted inspectors.
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Dorset Road "continues to be good" after the short visit last month.
Inspectors said the education provided prepares children for secondary school education.
A letter written to headteacher, Louise Buxton, by Ofsted's Stewart Gale said: "The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school
since the last inspection.
"You are dedicated to improving outcomes for pupils and work effectively with other like-minded leaders to achieve this."
Mr Gale said school leaders have correctly identified phonics as a key area for improvement, with outcomes in Year 1 screening checks and Year 2 retakes not consistently meeting national benchmarks or having declined.
Going forward he suggested that the school improves the phonics strategy.
Overall the school maintained its good rating, which is received during the last full inspection in 2015.
