THE Met Office have issued a weather warning for strong winds across parts of Dorset today.
Gusts of between 50mph and 60mph could be experienced around exposed coastal area and hills.
The warning is in place until midnight and covers parts of Dorset and Poole. It does not include Bournemouth.
A spokesperson said: "High tides are also near their peak, heightening the risk of coastal impacts due to large waves.
"Strong winds are expected to arrive across Northern Ireland, southwest England and west Wales during Thursday night, spreading to Scotland by Friday morning.
"Through the day winds are likely to ease across parts of Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland."
Flood alerts are in place for Christchurch Harbour and Poole Harbour.
