VISITORS to Bournemouth will enjoy a festive season to remember when the fabulous Christmas Tree Wonderland comes to town.

The Daily Echo has joined forces with the Town Centre and Coastal Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Bournemouth council to become the brand new attraction's official media partner.

The wonderland, a unique trail featuring more than 100 glittering trees and illuminations, will be delivered by the team behind the town's award-winning air festival.

The free trail will open on November 16, starting at the illuminated big wheel at Pier Approach.

It will then weave its way through the Lower Gardens, featuring iconic themed trees from cities around the world including Moscow, St Petersburg, Bethlehem, Seattle and Warsaw, as well as a Tree of Light and canopy of cascading lights over Pine Tree Walk.

The centrepiece will be the Bournemouth Wonderland Tree, a 60ft spectacle comprising 30,000 individual lights programmed for regular sound and light shows.

A giant teddy bear, huge bauble, gingerbread people and animated polar bears, fairies and elves will also be found along the way.

And no Christmas would be complete without a Santa's grotto and entertainment.

A packed programme of themed events will take place across the borough at locations including Boscombe, Southbourne and Westbourne and Yellow Buses including Victorian, continental and vintage attractions.

And Yellow Buses, the event's official transport provider, hopes to run an open-top bus decorated with lights to link the Christmas markets in Boscombe and Westbourne with the town centre.

The festive fun will continue with the SKATE outdoor ice rink, the traditional pantomime at the Pavilion Theatre, an indoor skating rink at the Bournemouth International Centre and magical performances at Pavilion Dance.

Jon Weaver, Bournemouth's head of resort marketing and events, said: "We’re all very excited about the arrival of the Christmas Tree Wonderland. It’s an awesome undertaking for the team and promises to be a fantastic attraction as well as a memorable addition to Bournemouth’s year-round events calendar, building on our status as a truly eventful destination."
