AFTER seven previous schemes were put forward for the site, Bournemouth council is recommending that an application to build eight homes off Columbia Road be approved.

Proposals were put forward by Castle Lodge Construction earlier this year for the homes as an extension to the King’s Close cul-de-sac.

However, residents have objected to the plan raising concerns about an increase in traffic and saying that no more houses were needed in the area.

Since 2008, seven applications to develop the site have been submitted to Bournemouth council, ranging from a block of flats to the latest scheme for eight homes.

Planning permission has been granted for three of the proposals although the latest submission for seven homes in 2015 was refused and rejected on appeal.

Due to the number of objections, the latest scheme will be decided by the council’s planning board at its meeting on Monday (October 15) with planning officers recommending that it be given the go-ahead.
