A TEENAGE boy suffered serious injuries in a crash with a car in Bournemouth.

The collision happened in Charminster Road at 1.20am on Saturday.

The 17-year-old local pedestrian was in collision with a red Seat Toledo car.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment, but police say his condition is not life-threatening.

The car driver - a local man aged in his 70s - was uninjured.

The road was closed for nearly six hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road was reopened just after 7.15am on Sunday.

Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said the "full circumstances of this collision" were being investigated, and a number of witnesses had already been spoken to.

He is appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch.

He would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage.

“The road was closed to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident and for a thorough examination of the scene to be carried out. We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the closure," he said.
