THE B3073 Christchurch Road at Longham will be will be closed again today following a gas escape last week.

The road will be closed eastbound at its junction with Ringwood Road while SGN continues to carry out emergency repairs.

Posting on their website yesterday, SGN said: “We’re continuing emergency repairs to our gas network on Christchurch Road in Longham.

“Christchurch Road remains closed to eastbound motorists at its junction with Ringwood Road for everyone's safety.

“A signed diversion is in place for motorists. Traffic can exit Christchurch Road onto Ringwood Road and travel westbound as usual.”

On the A338 Spur Road, one lane will be closed southbound and there will be two narrowed lanes northbound as works continue with a 40mph speed limit in place.

Works will commence on the bridge during daytime while night time works will see the widening preparation continuing for the third lane.

Meanwhile, in Poole, nine months of major works to redesign Hunger Hill junction will start today.

During peak hours (7.30-9am and 4.30-6pm) there will be single lane reductions only, with more of the road restricted outside those times. There will be no complete road closures during the works, and some night work will be carried out.

Initially work will start by Asda and West Quay Road with the removal of the central reserve and traffic islands.
