Back in 1996 hundreds lined the Bournemouth streets as Bournemouth Regatta week culminated in a colourful, fun packed carnival. Around 20 floats congregated at King's Park before setting off on a traditional parade through Christchurch Road and Sea Road, ending up along the seafront from Boscombe to Bournemouth Pier. The best float was created by the Winton Boy's School Band and the other winners included Excalibur from the Star Trek exhibition at the BIC, Abbey Life Assurance and Spirit of the West.
