ORGANISERS of Verwood Carnival are celebrating the event's successful return to "how it used to be".

The annual event was held in May this year, with hundreds of people lining the streets of the village.

Verwood Carnival Committee are holding their AGM on Thursday, October 11 and residents are welcome to attend.

Shelley Morris, carnival committee chairman, said: "This year we had the biggest fun filled event in recent years. This was all brought together by our hardworking carnival committee members, this group of Verwood residents give up their time throughout the year to organise all the elements that produce our carnival day.

"Together with the fantastic weather, the re-introduction of floats and a colourful procession, Verwood Carnival 2018 was a reminder of how it used to be. We want to continue to build on this to keep the tradition alive for future generations to enjoy."

The event raises funds for charities and community groups, and next year's event will take place on Monday, May 27.
