MORE than £600,000 has been allocated by Purbeck council leaders to purchase houses to help meet the needs of the community.
Funds acquired from developer's contributions in the district will be used to acquire temporary accommodation.
Councillor Laura Miller, Purbeck District Council's housing portfolio holder, told members 13 households were currently in bed and breakfast accommodation, five of which were families, while some were in caravans.
The £620,000 capital property purchase fund will be sourced using money from Section 106 agreements and preserved right to buy receipts.
The decision was agreed at a recent meeting of Purbeck District Council.
