IT was best foot forward for supporters of Dorset Blind Association when they took part in the charity's annual night run along Boscombe Seafront.

Some 120 runners stepped out for the event, on Saturday, September 15, taking on a 5k or 10k challenge to raise just under £3,500 for the cause.

The event was kick started with a Clubbercise warm up, getting the runners raring to go before setting off on their run. The popular Bright for Sight theme saw participants don neon clothing, glow sticks, glow paint, tutus and fairy lights, lighting up the seafront as they ran.

Participants received a medal, certificate and a goody bag for their efforts, thanks to Urban Reef, Waves, Better Gym Bournemouth, Tesco Branksome, Parley Optometrists and ZumbaFitnessEmma.

Dorset Blind Associations Bright for Sigh’ campaign returns again for World Sight Day on Thursday, October 11, when businesses, schools, community groups and individuals are encouraged to wear bright clothing to raise awareness and fund raise for sight loss in aid of Dorset Blind Association.

The charity, which celebrates its centenary this year helps around 1,000 people every month, but receives no fixed funding. Alongside the events being held to celebrate this milestone, the charity is also running a campaign called the 100 Club and is looking for 100 people to raise £100 in 2018.
