MORE than 1,000 visitors stepped through the doors of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital during its annual Open Day, the hospital has revealed. The number is double those who attended last year.

During the day a wide range of departments and organisations had stands allowing visitors to ask questions about different procedures, conditions, treatments and how they could work for the NHS.

Tours of theatres, the Endoscopy Department, the Plant Room, Xray, CT/MRI and physio were available as well as various health checks and tests. BMI and weight assessments were on offer as well as blood pressure and respiratory checks.

However, the most popular event was the teddy bear clinic where under-the-weather toys were diagnosed by medics.

Theatres Sister, Lin Keal, said: “The Open Day was a massive success and it was lovely to see so many people come through theatres and see where patients go when they have their operations. We noticed a huge increase in the number of people that toured theatres with over 900 people visiting our department. We’ll definitely be back next year!”
