If you're stuck in a traffic queue this week, there could be a number of different roadwork schemes to blame.

Here's a rundown of some of the work taking place around Dorset this week.

  • A338

There will be off peak lane closures during preparation works this week.

The lane closures will come into force from Monday and will start at 9.30am and finish at 3.30pm.

On Monday, lane one will be closed southbound from the quarry entrance. This is expected to be a short closure.

Then on Tuesday, the same lane will be closed from the quarry entrance to Cooper Dean.

  • Poole Bridge

Poole Bridge will be closed from 7am today for one week to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians for planned maintenance.

The Twin Sails Bridge will operate as normal.

There will be five nights of road closures for the final construction works at Hurn Roundabout.

The roundabout – and all approaches – will be closed to traffic from 8pm to 6am on Monday 24, Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 September so that surfacing and white lining works can be carried out.

On Wednesday and Thursday night, there will be lane closures on the A31 eastbound due to repairs.

And on Friday from 9pm until Saturday at 6am, there will be work on the A31 westbound entry slip from the A338 for road marking works.

  • Surrey Road

Work to install a zebra crossing in a road in Poole will be taking place until October 6.

Poole council is carrying out the work on the new pedestrian crossing in Surrey Road, which started on Monday.

There are no road closures in place, but stop and go boards are being used off peak to control traffic today.

  • Parkstone Road

Lane closed due to gas main work on A350 Parkstone Road both ways from Alverton Avenue to Elizabeth Road.
