A man is due to appear in court today following an alleged assault on a woman in Exeter Road, Bournemouth.

Police were called at 12.03am on Saturday to reports of an alleged assault on a woman in her 30s and from Christchurch.

She sustained serious injuries after falling from a 10 foot bridge opposite the Moon and Square pub during the incident.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

A full investigation was launched to establish the full circumstances and a cordon was set up at the scene.

A 42-year-old man from Christchurch was arrested and he has been charged with wounding with intent and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday September 24.

The man and woman are both known to each other.
