A BURGLAR who raided a £1.3m home in Branksome Park has been ordered to seek treatment for his drug dependency.

Anthony Dunning stole tools, keys and towel rails worth a total of £1,944 from a home in Bury Road sometime between May 7 and 10. The 43-year-old, of Beresford Close in Poole, had also broken into the Argyll Bowling Club in West Overcliff Drive, Westbourne sometime between December 24 and 28 2017, stealing alcohol, charity boxes and confectionary.

Initially, Dunning denied both counts of burglary. However, he later admitted the offences. On Monday, September 17, he appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court for a sentencing hearing.

Dunning also admitted receiving stolen goods including artwork, Christmas decorations and garden furniture at his home on January 16, as well as two counts of fraud by false representation, which occurred when Dunning sold artwork that didn't belong to him at Cash Recycle in Ashley Road and Originals Art in Poole.

Magistrates sentenced the defendant to a community order with a two-month electronically-monitored curfew. He must also have treatment for his drug dependency at Essential Drugs and Alcohol Services (EDAS) for six months.

The order will be reviewed in November.

Dunning was also ordered to pay an £85 surcharge and £250 costs.
