THERE aren’t many solo artists who can play a two-act arena tour, without any supporting guests – but Kylie Minogue is not just any solo artist.
The original princess of pop played an absolutely packed-to-the-rafters BIC on Saturday night, as part of her Golden series of concerts.
As well as promoting her latest album of the same name, the show was a chance for Kylie to showcase a huge amount of her back catalogue – meaning fans of all ages were in for a real treat.
She took us right back to the days of Locomotion and Especially For You; through the Indie years with Confide In Me; the disco days of Spinning Around and It’s In Your Eyes and into the current era with latest hit Dancing.
Always a great place to catch an arena tour, being slightly smaller than many of the other venues around the country, Kylie promised the BIC audience a “massive” yet “intimate” evening.
From the moment she appeared from beneath the stage – a vision in floaty fuschia - to the moment she brought the house down in a sparkly turquoise number and thigh high boots, she didn’t disappoint.
Despite sounding slightly croaky when she spoke, her vocals were spot on, and there was a party atmosphere throughout, complete with disco ball, glitter canons and impressive strobe light effects.
Acknowledging the appreciative crowd, Kylie said she would go home happy – and I’m pretty sure every ticket holder would have done the same.
