THE A338 will be subject to off-peak lane closures next week when preparation works take place.

The lane closures will come into force from Monday and will start at 9.30am and finish at 3.30pm.

On Monday, lane one will be closed southbound from the quarry entrance. This is expected to be a short closure.

Then on Tuesday, the same lane will be closed from the quarry entrance to Cooper Dean.

Bournemouth Borough Council said “it will appear that not a lot is going on” as a road restraint risk assessment needs to be completed and vegetation clearance outside the water works will also be finished.

The lane may have to be closed again on Wednesday if the work from Monday and Tuesday has not been completed.

On Thursday and Friday, lane one northbound will be closed from Cooper Dean to allow for scheme information boards to be installed and vegetation clearance at Blackwater Junction to be carried out.

Engineers from Southern Gas Network will also be on site to mark out their gas main.

The council said the off-peak lane closures will be kept as short as possible but as there were multiple areas to work on it would be “difficult.”
