BIKES worth thousands of pounds were stolen from a shed in North Dorset this week.
The four cycles, which are worth between £1,500 and £4,500, were being stored in an outbuilding in St Lawrence Crescent, Shaftesbury.
It was reported that they had been stolen on Monday, September 10.
The thief forced open a padlock on the shed door.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was due to use one of the bikes during the Weymouth Ironman event this Sunday, September 23. He has since been able to borrow a replacement.
Police say the bicycles are a black and green Specialized Stumpjumper, a black and white Cervelo road bike, a green Specialized Enduro and a white Frome hybrid.
PC Rob Hammond, of Shaftesbury police, urged anyone who is offered a bicycle for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55180146376.
