A TEENAGE girl hit the right note as she was able to raise over £150 for a charity during a piano concert at Matalan.

Sammy Milton, aged 15, was asked to play her piano and sing at the store in Turbary Retail Park, Ringwod Road.

The talented teenager had only played her first gig earlier this summer at Picnic Park Deli in Bournemouth Gardens.

Her mum, Sarah, said her daughter was “delighted” to perform and help raise money for the charity Home-Start.

“Sammy played her piano and sang for two hours. The response from the public was heartwarming and their generosity meant that after two hours Sammy raised £167.58. This was the most the charity had ever raised at Matalan,” Sarah said.

Sarah and her mum, Migs Bayne, held the collection tins.

“So as you can see it was very much a family affair - very apt as Home-Start is one of the leading family support Charities in the UK,” Sarah added.

Thanking Sammy, Sarah and Migs for their support, Home-Start administrator Lesley Owen said: “We cannot thank you enough for your incredible fundraising. A special thanks must go to the incredibly talented Sammy – I hear that your musical talents are wonderful and it certainly boosted our fundraising efforts.

“All of our events can never happen without the generous volunteers who support us by organising and collecting donations. Your kindness will enable us to continue providing our services to families in need in our community,” she added.
