COUNCILLORS are being asked to back a request to maintain the Dorset-wide public health council partnership for at least two years following local government reorganisation in April. Public Health Dorset was set up in 2013 to provide the public health services on behalf of Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset County councils. However, local government reorganisation will include the abolition of all three councils ahead of the formation of the county’s two new unitary authority. A report to the joint public health board ahead of its meeting later this month, says that work has been carried out to determine how funding for the organisation will be split between the two replacement councils. The report also recommends that the board approve a request to the two shadow executive committees for the partnership, and the board, for two years post-reorganisation.
