WINDS of up to 60mph could sweep across Dorset, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow warning – meaning be aware – has been issued for Dorset and is valid from 9pm tonight.

The warning is valid until 6pm on Tuesday.

The windy weather is due to the remnants of Storm Helene which will be sweeping across the UK during Monday night and into Tuesday.

Winds of between 40 and 50mph are widely predicted and gusts of 55 to 60mph could be seen across the South West of England.

The Met Office says the winds could cause damage to trees and cause some delays to rail, air and ferry transport.
