THE Dorset-based family who own a recently-shut Ferndown attraction have yet to speak about the closure.

As reported in the Daily Echo, Activate Indoor Trampoline Park, which is based at the Ferndown Industrial Estate, suddenly shut on Tuesday.

It is claimed that bookings were still being taken hours before the venue shut, and a party of children arrived for a birthday at the building in the hours after doors closed.

One mum told the Daily Echo she paid £200 to host her daughter's eighth birthday party at the venue last week.

She has been unable to contact the owners for reimbursement.

The telephone number for Activate rings out, while the company's website and Facebook page have been taken down.

Activate's directors were initially husband and wife team Pam and Martin deWavrin and their daughter Sarah-Louise.

The three, all of whom live in Weymouth, are still listed as directors on Companies House. When the company was registered in 2016, their addresses were listed as Wyke Road.

When the venue opened in 2016, Mrs deWavrin told the Echo: "We are really optimistic and enthusiastic about this project and are really excited to be bringing something like this to Dorset.

"The site in Ferndown is the perfect place to start for us as it's right in the middle of Bournemouth and Poole and has a huge car park for visitors."

Before the Facebook page was taken down, a status posted on it read: "With great sadness, we announce that Activate and Unit 65 will close its doors.

"We would like to thank all our hardworking and dedicate team of staff who have made Activate a friendly attraction for families.

"To our loyal customers, we appreciate your support over the past two years."

However, customers have been told they can email queries about their bookings until the end of the week.

A Poole mum who contacted the Echo said: "I phoned up last week to book my daughter's birthday party.

"They took payment over the phone for the whole lot.

"I paid £200 and then I didn't hear anything else. I found out it had closed through Facebook.

"I'm still hoping I get the money back, and I've emailed the company, but so far I've heard nothing back.

"It's come as a bit of a shock."
