COUNCILLORS in Poole have dealt a further blow to a request from the residents of Hamworthy road for street lighting to be improved.

On Thursday, members of the Transportation Advisory Group agreed to recommend to the council’s cabinet member for transport, Cllr Ian Potter, that no further action be taken to improve lighting in Tuckers Lane.

Dozens of residents signed a petition to the council calling for improvements to be made but a council report published following a review of the road’s lighting said that it met British standards.

The council has agreed to trim one tree to aid illumination and this is expected to be done in the coming weeks.

A final decision on whether any further works are required in Tuckers Lane will be made by Cllr Potter.
