A MAN has been charged with assault after a woman in her 70s was allegedly grabbed by the throat in Ferndown last week.
The 34-year-old, who lives in Ferndown, will appear at Poole Magistrates' Court this month after an incident in Church Road on the afternoon of September 4.
The complainant was walking her dog at around 1.40pm when she challenged a man who was riding his bike along a footpath.
Police claim the cyclist dismounted, shouted at the woman and pushed her.
It is alleged that he then grabbed her by the throat and pushed her backwards.
Officers investigating the claim called for anyone with information to come forward. A man has now been charged.
He will appear before magistrates on Friday, September 28.
