HERE'S your weekly round-up of some of the events taking place across the area this weekend.

1. Thousands of people will flock to Ringwood Carnival this Saturday. This year’s event is being held at its usual home of The Bickerley after the carnival had to be held Carvers Recreation Ground for the past two years. There will be activities from 12.30pm on The Bickerley including stalls, arts, crafts, face painting, demonstrations, entertainment and more plus a funfair. The main attraction will be the processions which take place at 2pm and 7.15pm. The grand finale will be a firework display at 9.30pm.

2. The third annual Purbeck Nordic Walking Festival returns tomorrow. The three-day event includes two distance challenges including a 16-mile walk and the UK’s first Nordic walking marathon. New for this year is the Saturday night social with live music being held at the festival hub beneath Corfe Castle. A beginners’ ticket costs £10 per day, a festival pass costs £25 per day and a challenge and Saturday ticket is £49.

3. A world-class aerial circus comes to Poole Quay for the opening of Inside Out Dorset festival. Cirque Rouages will put on a free performance combining breath-taking circus skills and magical storytelling at 7.45pm on Friday and Saturday. Prepare to be amazed as the performers take to the sky on an ever-turning cable. Then on Saturday and Sunday at Boscombe Overcliff Drive between 12noon and 6pm, there will be unique performances and installations from international artists in Coastal Encounters.

4. Motors by the Sea Festival gets into gear this weekend. On Saturday, there will be classic and supercars on display alongside Boscombe Market then on Sunday, a line-up at Boscombe Precinct will include vintage, classic and retro cars and motorbikes.

5. Runners will take on The Purbeck Marathon on Sunday. The course is closer to 27 miles rather than the conventional 26.2 miles and will see participants make their way from Swanage towards Durlston Country Park before passing through Worth Matravers and Kingston. There’s also a Purbeck 16 event, too.

6. Former contestants from The X Factor, Let it Shine and The Voice will be showing off their vocal skills at the UK final of the Karaoke World Championships at the Pavilion Ballroom on Saturday night. Doors open at 7.15pm.

7. A Wildlife Weekend comes to Corfe Castle on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can find out about moths, reptiles, bats and spiders between 11am and 5pm. The event is free but normal admission charges apply.

8. Royal Bournemouth Hospital is holding its popular annual open day on Saturday between 10am and 3pm. There will be blood pressure checks, eye tests and respiratory checks plus the Teddy Bear Clinic will be making a return.
