ROADWORKS aimed at improving a busy junction in Poole are set to be delayed until next year to avoid clashing with other ongoing improvements.

The third phase of Poole council’s Wimborne Road works aimed at resurfacing and improving the junction with Fernside Road and Darbys Lane was due to take place later this year but is now not likely to begin until after April.

Council officers have requested the £300,000 scheme is deferred until the next financial year so that it doesn’t clash with the Hunger Hill project and cause “increased congestion” on surrounding roads.

A recommendation that the delay request be passed to the cabinet member for transport, Ian Potter, will be considered by the council’s Transportation Advisory Group on Thursday.
