OFFICIALS warned patients to allow extra time for journeys to Bournemouth Hospital due to the traffic chaos on the Spur Road.
Access to the site off Castle Lane West has been a common talking point for years and the latest bout of roadworks on the A338 southbound have compounded the issue.
On Tuesday the hospital advised people to leave extra time, up to an hour if possible, to arrive for appointments.
A spokesperson from The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “A number of patients were delayed on Tuesday so we’re asking patients using the Wessex Way to allow extra time for their journeys, and to contact the relevant department if they’re running late.
“We hope the delays experienced on Tuesday will ease, minimising disruption to our patients and staff.”
The proposed Wessex Fields development aims to improve issues around hospital access.
