A WOMAN has admitted being responsible for a dog which worried livestock in Wimborne.

Wendy Knight, who is also known as both Wendy Clarke and Dee Knight, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on August 29.

The 51-year-old, of Sheasby Close in Sixpenny Handley, pleaded guilty to being in charge of a dog which worried sheep on agricultural land in Knighton Lane. The offence was committed on March 12.

Magistrates adjourned the sentencing hearing until October 11. When Knight returns, an application for a criminal behaviour order will be made.

As reported in the Daily Echo, the owner of a golden retriever was last week ordered to keep it on a lead at all times around livestock.

Susan Martin, 58, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Thursday following an incident at Hengistbury Head in May.

Prosecutors say the pet, which is called Rufus, was 'dangerous and not kept under proper control'.

Officials at Bournemouth council applied for an order to have the dog either kept under control or destroyed. Martin, who lives in Camberley, Surrey, could also have had Rufus taken away under the order.

Magistrates said the dog must be kept on a lead at all time when on land containing livestock such as sheep and cattle.

Martin was also ordered to pay £150 costs.
