A LIFELONG AFC Bournemouth fan had the chance tour the club's stadium and meet Eddie Howe after a care home helped make her special wish come true.

Brenda Jarrett, of Oakdene Nursing Home in Three Legged Cross, told the care home she would like to see her beloved Cherries play a match after hanging her wish on the wish tree.

Residents are invited to hang their wishes on the tree detailing what they would like to do or see and staff at the care home do their best to make it a reality.

Oakdene manager Lindsey Woodward contacted the club to see if they could help.

The club said they would extend on Brenda's wish and offered the chance for Brenda and two members of staff to have a full stadium tour and meet the players.

The care home’s head chef, Neil Fletcher, and kitchen porter, Lewis Girvin, who are both avid AFC Bournemouth fans, joined Brenda for the tour and even bought her a football from the club shop which all the players signed.

Brenda said she was “delighted” to meet the players, particularly her favourite player Josh King, and club manager Eddie Howe.

She said the experience was “better than watching a match” and the signed football will take pride of place in Brenda’s room.
