FENCING will be removed from a green in Ringwood next week to prepare the site for next month’s carnival.

Contractors will start work at The Bickerley on Tuesday and it is due to be completed by Friday, August 31.

The ground will then be made ready for the arrival of the funfair from Sunday, September 9.

Ringwood Town Council said most of the fencing will be donated to the Ellingham and Show which will be used at next year’s event and beyond.

The rest will be donated to a water-themed community project as chosen by Wessex Water.

Last year’s carnival had to be held at Carvers recreation ground as works were being carried out by Wessex Water at The Bickerley to improve the drainage of the green.

A scheme to increase capacity of the sewer network and install new pipes to alleviate the risk of flooding in the area was completed early last year.

Ringwood Carnival takes place on Saturday, September 15, with the processions at 2pm and 7.15pm.
