A SHOPLIFTER who stole manuka honey and Famous Grouse whisky has been fined.

Jessica Mason, who lives in Bath Road, Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Thursday, August 16. During the hearing, she admitted stealing two bottles of Famous Grouse and one of Rémy Martin cognac worth £59 from Asda in Station Road, Gillingham on April 26.

She also admitted stealing three jars of manuka honey worth £160 from Holland and Barrett in Kidderminster on July 12 2017, as well as further charges of failing to surrender to custody on June 30 and the commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order made by Worcestershire Magistrates' Court on June 16 2017 for two counts of theft.

Mason, 31, was fined £70 and ordered to pay £160 compensation to Holland and Barrett. She must also pay a £30 victim surcharge.

Magistrates did not order compensation for Asda due to the defendant's lack of means.
