WE'VE seen it in celuloid, now's the chance to view Aston Martin's new two plus two DBS in the metal - and composite materials.

Having been given a short and very destructive drive-on role in the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale, the 190mph DBS this month received its public premier at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

And European enthusiasts will get their chance to see it up close and personal at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show - where the all-important question of how much it will cost will be revealed.

The Aston Martin DBS is a 6.0-litre V12 powered, race-bred, two-seater shaped by the aerodynamic demands of high performance, with a leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre interior that marries hand-finished materials with the very latest in performance technology.

Raw power is provided by the hand-built 510bhp all-alloy engine making it capable of a top speed of 191mph while reaching 62mph in a Martini shaking 4.3 seconds.

First examples of the DBS are currently being built at Aston Martin's global headquarters at Gaydon, near Warwickshire, joining the current Aston Martin line-up that now comprises the DB9, the agile V8 Vantage Coupe and the critically acclaimed Vantage Roadster - launched earlier this year.

Aston Martin chief executive officer Dr Ulrich Bez, said: "The DBS is the ultimate expression of Aston Martin's engineering and technical ability.

"It offers pure performance without compromise."

And he added: "The DBS delivers the complete driving experience and bridges the gap between our road and track cars - the DB9 and DBR9."

First deliveries to customers who have already put down a deposit on the head-turning DBS are due in the first quarter of next year.
