WITH the long, hot summer days being replaced by cloudy days and rain. We take a look at some of the top wet weather attractions in Dorset.

The Tank Museum

Regarded as one of the best collection of tanks in the world, The Tank Museum at Bovington is home to more than 300 vehicles including the world’s first ever tank, Little Willie. Visitors can make their way around 10 exhibitions which tell the story of the tank and crews spanning almost 100 years and see tanks in action every weekday during the summer holidays. You can even take a ride in a M548 vehicle.

Reader Robert J said: “The Tank Museum at Bovington is a fantastic day out! Full of history and awe inspiring displays. I can't believe how much it has developed over the years.”

Bournemouth Natural Science Society

Located in Christchurch Road, the Bournemouth Natural Science Society is home to a menagerie of natural history specimens including plants, birds, mammals, reptiles and insects. There’s even an Egyptology collection which boasts a 2,500-year-old mummy in a sarcophagus. The museum is open the public every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday in August from 10am until 4pm.

Posting on the Bournemouth Echo website, Bournemouthcarer branded it “Bournemouth’s hidden gem”.

The Oasis

Opened by AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe in 2016, The Oasis in Glen Fern Road has just about everything you need under one roof to keep big kids and little ones entertained on rainy days. Boasting a six-lane bowling alley, arcade, pool tables, a rainforest-themed adventure golf course and a soft play area, the leisure complex is open from 10am until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. There's even a diner open on weekends.

Oceanarium

Take a trip under the sea but stay at the same time. The Oceanarium on Bournemouth seafront allows visitors to come face-to-face with sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, dwarf crocodiles, clownfish, otters and Humboldt penguins.

RockReef

For active youngsters with energy to burn, the RockReef indoor activity attraction on Bournemouth Pier has indoor climbing walls, a vertical drop slide, a 'Leap of Faith' jumping challenge, a high ropes aerial obstacle course and a Pier Cave which is described as a "65-linear metre indoor fun cave experience." On dry days, visitors can test their nerve on the PierZip, the world's first pier to shore zip wire featuring a 250 metre dual zip line.
