THE A31 is closed near Stag Gate after an articulated lorry lost its load.
The road will be closed for "a considerable amount of time", say police.
The crash only involves the lorry, which was carrying forklift trucks.
One has come off the back of the truck and is in the road.
Police were called at 4.36pm. They have confirmed no injuries have been sustained.
"It is anticipated the road will be closed for a considerable period of time while the vehicle and forklifts are recovered", said a spokesperson for Dorset Police.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
