Oxford
Botanic garden opening
The Herbarium Room at the Oxford Botanic Garden had its grand opening on the anniversary of the founding of the garden, known as Danby Day.
It was designed to display the treasures from the Oxford University Herbaria, one of the most important plant collections in the world, which is housed in the Department of Plant Sciences.
The Herbarium Room will reconnect the Botanic Garden with the Department of Plant Sciences and the Herbaria, which up until the 1950s, were all located together on Rose Lane.
The Bobarts, Building Botany at Oxford is the first exhibition and focuses on the work of the original keepers of the Physic Garden.
