CLOTHES retailer H&M is opening a new store in Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre.

The two-floor shop will open its doors to customers at 11am on Wednesday, August 29.

With a floor space of more than 2,052 sqm, the store will be occupying the former BHS unit and provide full ranges of women’s, men’s, and childrenswear, as well as its Divided range.

The first 200 customers in the queue on the morning of the store’s launch will receive a goodie bag, and all customers who join the queue before 11am will receive a 25 per cent discount wristband for all purchases they make that day.

An in-store DJ will be providing entertainment during the opening event.

Carlos Duarte, H&M’s country manager for UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be opening a brand new store at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole this August.

“Providing our customers with the best shopping experience possible is always our goal and we are confident that our new Poole store will offer exactly this.”

Founded in Sweden in 1947, H&M opened its first UK store in 1976. Forty years on, the retailer now has more than 260 stores across the UK and Ireland.

H&M launched a garment collecting scheme in 2013, which offers customers the chance to donate any unwanted clothes and textiles, by any brand, while shopping in-store. All donated items are recycled with zero per cent going to landfill.

As part of the Dolphin Centre's improvement programme, new retailers have opened including shoe store Deichmann, stationery brand Smiggle, sports retailer JD, and an upgraded New Look store.

John Grinnell, centre manager, said: “It’s been a really exciting year for the shopping centre so far, with a whole host of top brands joining the line-up of retailers.

"Attracting top brands to the Dolphin like H&M is really important to maintain the centre’s position as a significant attraction on the south coast for tourists and residents alike. We’re determined to significantly improve facilities to appeal to all our customers.”
