ONE of the country's longest-ever heatwaves appeared to come to an end today as strong winds and squalls blew across Dorset.

And things look set to take a stormier turn tomorrow. Met Office forecasters have issued a yellow warning for rain and wind between 3am and 3pm.

A spokesperson from the service said "coastal gales" are likely, with the bad weather beginning tonight and continuing into tomorrow.

However, warmer weather will make a return towards the end of next week, with temperatures of 25C predicted for Friday.

A number of events are due to take place across Dorset tomorrow, including the Swanage Carnival procession at 3pm, the final day of the Great Dorset Chilli Festival in Wimborne St Giles and the third Metropole Market of 2018 in Bournemouth.
