THE skies over Poole are set to be illuminated on Thursday night with the first in a series of summer firework displays in Dorset.

Now sponsored by Rockley Holiday Park, Rockley’s Summer Spectacular officially kick starts the school holidays in style.

The pyrotechnics will take place every Thursday at Poole Quay from this July 26 until August 30, starting with family entertainment (organisers promise street entertainment, live music and fun) at 7pm before the big firework finale at 10pm.

Next up is Swanage, where the town’s firework displays form part of the annual Swanage Regatta and Carnival Celebrations.

The fireworks are now seen as a highlight of the week and will be held three times throughout the course of the celebrations starting with the first night on Saturday, July 28 which will be followed by the second display on Wednesday, August 1 and finally on Saturday, August 4.

The display takes place from the jetty between 9.45pm and 10pm.

Bournemouth’s popular annual Friday night fireworks is also a highlight of the town’s summer activities.

The displays start again on August 3 and then will be held every week until August 24 from Bournemouth seafront at 10pm.

And that’s not all.

There will also be fireworks in Christchurch at 9.30pm on Saturday, August 18 as part of the town’s annual carnival celebrations.

So grab your diaries and make a note of the dates to ensure your summer holidays go with a bang in Dorset this year.
