RESIDENTS in Ferndown put on a “great show of community spirit” following an act of “mindless vandalism” last week.
Firefighters from Ferndown discovered a floral display at King George V Playing Fields had been destroyed while dealing with a bin fire at around 5am last Thursday.
Posting on Twitter, Ferndown Fire Station said: “As well as putting out the fire we moved flowers out of the road from a vandalised display. So sad someone wants to destroy things that make the town look nice.”
On Friday, members of Ferndown Middle School’s Gardening Club gave up their lunch break to help replant the flowers and tidy up the area.
Ferndown Town Council said: “Following a mindless act of vandalism in the Millennium Park on the grounds of the King George V playing fields yesterday, it was uplifting to see members of the town's community help with the clear up.”
