DID your ancestors live in Gussage All Saints or the surrounding area during the First World War? Did any of them serve in the forces? What was life like in the village? If you have any information the Priest's House Museum would like to know.

‘The One Hundred Year Heritage of the First World War for Wimborne and East Dorset’ is a project run by the museum, which aims to record the lives of people from East Dorset who served in the forces and those who stayed behind, such as women who took on jobs left vacant by men.

The information collected as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded scheme will be made available on the project website eastdorsetfirstworldwar.org.

The museum will be attending the Gussage All Saints Summer Fete in the grounds of Gussage House on Saturday, July 14 from 2pm to 4.30pm, when anyone with photographs or press cuttings relating to the local area, or to individuals, is invited to take them along.

Later on this year the museum is also producing a third drama production with State of Play Arts as part of the project, focussing on the stories of those who survived the war and what became of them on their return home. Anyone with a story relating to the East Dorset area is asked to contact the museum on 01202 882533.
