A MAN has been charged following a reported incident involving a Brownsea Island ferry.
Oliver Jarvis, of Lagland Court in Poole, will appear at Poole Magistrates' Court this afternoon. The 34-year-old is charged with two counts of misconduct of master likely to endanger ships, structures or individuals.
Prosecutors allege the defendant was the master of the Maid of Poole on September 17 2017 when the vessel was manoeuvred in a way that caused the loss of, or serious damage to, a small inflatable boat, and the manoeuvre being a breach or neglect of duty.
It is also alleged that Jarvis did a second act which caused or was likely to have caused serious damage to another ship or cause death or serious injury to a person, and that act being a deliberate one.
Jarvis was charged under the Merchant Shipping Act 1995.
A spokesperson from the ferry company yesterday made no comment to the Daily Echo.
