A CHALLENGE over Bournemouth council’s decision to refuse permission four three telephone kiosks to be installed in Holdenhurst Road has been thrown out.
Appeals were made by Euro Payphone Ltd against the authority’s decision not to allow the phone boxes at 69, 89 and 138A Holdenhurst Road due to their siting.
Considering the appeal, a planning inspector backed the decision of Bournemouth council saying that each kiosk “would have a harmful effect on the character and appearance of the area”.
They said: “Given that the council has provided a clear analysis of each site and a reasoned objection to each kiosk, I do not consider that there has been a ‘blanket ban’ or that they have issued a generic refusal without evidence to justify their decisions.”
