BOSCOMBE seafront will be lit up this autumn when one of Dorset’s brightest running events returns.

The third annual Bright for Sight Night Run on Saturday, September 15, will celebrate 100 years of Dorset Blind Association.

The event sees people of all ages and abilities walk, run or even skip their way along the 5k or 10k routes which start from Boscombe Pier.

Participants are encouraged to grab their glow sticks, neon clothes, fluorescent paint and anything else that glows to help make the event the brightest one yet.

Runners are encouraged to raise money for the Dorset Blind Association through sponsorship.

The night will begin with a clubbercise warm up before the run starts at 8.30pm. Registration will open at 7.30pm.

Entry is £15 per person and includes an exclusive Bright for Sight medal and a runners’ goodie bag. Group discount is available to groups of four or more.

Helena Sinclair, events fundraiser at Dorset Blind Association, said: "We are so excited to light up Boscombe seafront this year as we celebrate our 100th anniversary. We can’t wait to welcome lots of glowing runners and hope to make this the most successful run yet. A great way to support a local charity whilst having fun with friends and family, all ages and abilities welcome."

Dorset Blind Association have been supporting individuals living with sight loss since 1918. The number of people living with visual impairment is due to hit 35,000 in Dorset alone.

The charity hopes to receive additional support with fundraising during their centenary, as well as the chance to raise vital awareness in the local community for sight loss.

Currently, the charity supports over 1,000 visually impaired people every month with the help of more than 300 volunteers.
