A TAXI driver was attacked by a passenger wielding a glass bottle during an incident in Bournemouth.

The victim picked up a man in his taxi at the Texaco petrol station in Holdenhurst Road at 4.40am on Sunday, June 24. The passenger asked the driver to take him towards Spring Road.

However, as the taxi travelled through Windham Road, the passenger began arguing with the driver. He then hit the driver on the back of the head with a glass bottle.

The driver, who was not badly injured, stopped the cab and the man ran from the scene. 

Police have released CCTV of a suspect.

PC Lee Bedding, of Bournemouth police, said: “We have made a number of enquiries into this incident and have obtained CCTV footage from inside the Co-Operative store at the Texaco petrol station showing the suspect before he was picked up by the taxi.

“We have made efforts to identify this man but have so far not been successful and I am appealing for anyone who recognises him, or who has any information about this incident, to please contact us.”
