A TEENAGER from Wimborne is set to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience as England bid to win their final World Cup group game this evening.

Benjy Williams, who attends Allenbourn Middle School, is going to be a flag-bearer for the match against Belgium in Kaliningrad.

The 13-year-old flew out to Russia yesterday with his dad Neil, who won the exclusive trip through his work at Sunseeker.

“I’m really excited about it, but also very nervous because I don’t want to mess up in front of millions of people watching on TV,” Benjy said.

“I can’t wait to see the players and hopefully all of the stars will be in the team. They have been playing really well so far. I didn’t ever think I would get to go to the World Cup, especially because they are always so far away. I feel really lucky and even more so because I am going to be on the pitch before the match.”

Benjy, who is a Liverpool fan, said he is most looking forward to seeing Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Jesse Lingard, who starred in England’s 6-1 win against Panama on Sunday.

Despite Gareth Southgate’s side impressing in their opening two group games, Benjy fears they could be on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline tonight.

Benjy added: “Some of my friends didn’t believe me when I told them I was going to be a flag-bearer. They have all been messaging me saying they will be looking out for me on TV.

“I’m going to try to make the most of it, buy some souvenirs from the stadium and enjoy myself as much a possible.”

In a whistle-stop trip to Russia, Benjy and his dad fly home on Friday leaving them with little time for sightseeing.

However, Neil, who is works in Sunseekers finance team, said they were going to make the most of their adventure. He was more optimistic than Benjy ahead of tonight’s game, predicting a 2-1 victory for England.

“Hopefully it is a good match and I think it is going to be fantastic experience,” Neil said.

“We’re lucky that the head company Wanda are sponsors for the World Cup. We only found out a month ago that we had won the competition.”
