A FAMILY that lost most of their belongings when fire ripped through the roof of their home have appealed for help.

Piotr Zralka, his wife Joanna, and their four children were forced to flee the converted bungalow they were living in after a fusebox fire sparked a major blaze back in May.

Luckily, Piotr was watching television in the front room at the time, and when the fire caused a power cut, he went to check, saw the flames and was able to get his family to safety.

But almost a month on, he says the insurance company has still not paid out and his family are struggling for clothes, bedding and furniture.

So they've turned to social media to launch an appeal for £2,000.

He explained: "The fire took most of our belongings and left trauma in our minds, especially the children.

"It disrupted our lives and the consequences of this disaster will be dragging for months.

"Going through a claim is adding even more stress and we haven't received any money from insurance yet over three weeks after the fire.

"After spending that time in alternative accommodation, we will be moving into a different house having to buy pretty much everything - beds, more clothes, furniture, household appliances."

Seven fire crews attended the fire at the bungalow in Langside Avenue, Poole, on the evening of May 16.

Witnesses reported seeing smoke and flames more than half a mile away

Recalling the night in question, Piotr said: "I was absolutely terrified, I was expecting explosions from the electricity mains.

"I just don't want to think about what could have happened if I'd have been asleep.

"I just don't want to think about that."

The family, who had been renting the property, have lived there for more than five years.
