A POPULAR gin bar in Wimborne has re-opened at a new premises.

Three times the size of its original venue in West Borough, the Gin House is now located in Church Street.

The Mayor of Wimborne, Cllr Kelly Webb, officially declared the bar open at a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a VIP launch held in the evening.

Guests enjoyed local artisan gins, explored the new venue, and socialised with one another over an ice-cold G&T.

The Gin House features more than 200 new gins and has already taken bookings for the private gin tasting experience room, which features an indulgent environment created to showcase gin tuition and tasting scenarios.

Catering for predominately groups, it will offer an intimate ‘behind the scenes’ package with bespoke menus designed by experienced house mixologists.

Owners Kate and Gordon Compston have retained the much-loved Prohibition theme in the Grade II Listed building. After significant investment in refurbishment, they have opened the new bar which offers a relaxed and cosy atmosphere, comfortable nooks, and both bar and waitress service from a bespoke, locally crafted bar.

Gin lovers will find small batch and limited-edition gins alongside rare and flavoured tonic waters, with an emphasis on eccentric, complementing garnishes, as well as gin cocktails and an array of other drinks too.

Kate, who also owns the Tap House in Wimborne, said: “After months of hard work, we are thrilled to finally open the doors and welcome everyone to our great new location. A lot of hard work has been put into creating and finalising the finishing touches.

“We are very much part of our local community and whilst we specialise in gin, we welcome everyday drinkers, gin lovers, locals and visitors.”

She added: “It’s very exciting to see so many groups signed up for the private gin tasting room already and we’re certain that they will have a unique and memorable experience, as they are welcomed to our world of gin here in Wimborne.”

The Gin House Wimborne is open Monday to Thursday from 5pm and from midday Friday to Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kate and Gordon are bringing a 1950s-style bar to Broadstone.

Set to open in the autumn, the new venue will open in the premises which is currently occupied by Costa Coffee in Lower Blandford Road.

Called Harwood & Co, the bar will have a “retro vibe, combined with a modern twist” and feature 1950s style crockery and a record player.
