AN ELVIS fan is demanding a refund after his night at Poole’s Lighthouse was ruined by a rowdy group who were later involved in a violent brawl.

The trouble started at a concert by Elvis impersonator Shawn Klush on Thursday evening.

As reported in the Daily Echo on Friday, police were called to the venue following the performance after a fight broke out in the post-show bar area.

Four people were arrested, including a 55-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a 52-year-old woman, all from Lytchett Minster, and a 19-year-old from Bournemouth.

Paramedics attended as one person caught up in the fracas, a 56-year-old, suffered cuts to their face.

Norman Long, who was sat near the group during the concert, said they were drinking throughout the show and “standing up and shouting all the time”.

“I was looking forward to the night as I’m a huge Elvis fan, and my daughter bought me the tickets as an early Father’s Day present,” he said.

“There were about six of them and they were in and out of the bar during the performance. They were asked to sit down and be quiet as they were standing up and shouting.

“Then they pushed their way to get to the front of the stage when Elvis was giving out scarves. They were grabbing them off him, and then they tried to steal some people’s seats in the front row.

“There was one security guard next to the stage who told them to keep quiet and go back to their seats. But then he went back to the stage and the group were still noisy.”

Norman said the group “really spoiled the evening” and “should have been thrown out” long before the end of the concert.

He complained to the manager afterwards, and his daughter is now trying to get a refund for the tickets.

“I’m really annoyed by what happened. I’m sure there will have been a lot of people complaining,” he said.

“There wasn’t enough security staff, and the group were getting drinks left right and centre. They were at the bar when we left the concert at around 10.15pm.”

Norman left before the fight broke out, and police were called at 10.40pm.

Susie Carver, of Lighthouse Theatre, told the Echo on Friday “incidents of this nature are extremely rare at Lighthouse”.
