A GROUP of brave men and women are set to shed their clothes to raise money for charity.

A total of 12 people will take part in a ‘Calendar Girls’ style shoot to raise money for the breast cancer units at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital.

Like the original Calendar Girls, participants will be photographed with strategically placed props to protect their modesty.

The photoshoots will take place at Hillview Flowers and Events and Stylistix Hair & Beauty Ltd in Bournemouth.

Bournemouth cancer survivor, Sue Andress, said: “With the help of family and friends we have managed to collect a group of 12 of us including two men as men can get breast cancer as well. Two of us have had breast cancer.

“The main thing we wanted to achieve is obviously raise money for our local hospitals but also awareness. We all know someone now who is going through breast cancer and it seems people diagnosed are getting younger.”

“I myself was diagnosed with an aggressive grade of breast cancer last year and had a mastectomy and gruelling chemo. Another lovely lady, Kay Shaw, also completed her treatment last year for breast cancer as well.”

It is hoped the calendars will be sold in the hospitals and Sue is looking to hear from any businesses or organisations that might be able to help.

Sue said: “We need to find a printer that is able to offer their services at a discounted rate for 2,000 calendars to start with plus we will need donations from the public/businesses to raise money to help pay for the calendars to be printed.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Sue by emailing familyandress@btinternet.com.
